Just a Scribe in Action: The Introduction

Firstly, welcome to the Scribing Action Blog. I appreciate your attendance and support in this ever important endeavor and will see to it that we keep you coming back for more. That said, allow me (re)introduce myself, my name Hov! H to the O-V… Haha. But, seriously, my name Is Marté (Mar-Tay) Terrel Pratt. Eldest (best?) love child of Tracy Crumb and Mark Pratt Sr. At the publishing of this entry, I am 8,991 days old and there has rarely been a dull moment (though some dark ones) throughout the years. I’d like y'all to get to know more about myself, as it’ll probably help you understand my view on many topics that will be covered here, from love, books you should read, to the best kind of hummus at the department store.

Chicago born and bred, more specifically, the Lower North Side neighborhood of (the infamous) Cabrini Green. Things I particularly enjoy are: my mothers dressing(!!!), my family, reading, strong women, sports, mentoring, movies (mainly older), live theatre, exercising (shout out to Hector), poetry, Jacuzzi’s, shades of purple, “underground” hip hop, 90’s R&B, owls, museums, Chik-Fil-A breakfast, barbeque sauce, mild sauce, Harold’s Chicken (South Side), vintage video games, snow, Shawn Michaels aka The Heartbreak Kid (GOAT), blogging (duh!), traveling, properly raised children, space exploration, intellectual conversations, wine, cognac, tequila (shots!!), beer, and cooking (how I LOVE to cook, man).

Things I particularly dislike are: not having my mothers dressing, my family, public educational systems, zoo’s/aquariums (prison for profit, anyone?), most cable television networks, swine (ew), racism, pop music, the Internet (you’ll understand later, promise), millennial behavior, ketchup, mosquitoes(!), flies(!!!), laziness, strawberries, Chief Keef, needy women, the Philadelphia Eagles, the NY Giants, the football team in Washington, D.C., vodka, whiskey, gin, sweet beer aka “ale”, any kind of tini, beaches (fuck sand, man), improperly raised children, scary movies (they are ALWAYS terrible!), collard greens, McDonald’s, processed foods, adults that can’t cook, having a boss, sleeping in, anti 4/20 establishments, war, and the way Western civilization has turned a blind eye to it’s history of slavery.

Things I fear are: my wife never knowing how to make dressing like my mother, commitment, heartbreak, failure to reach my potential, never having offspring, bridges(!), cancer (!!!), authoring a terrible fiction novel, and being reincarnated into anything but a African Spotted Eagle Owl.

So, that’s me, and this again, is the Scribing Action Blog. Random things, life and lessons from my POV, as told by me, for the people. I don’t expect anyone to agree with everything, rather, I expect (mostly) forward conversation and getting to know some amazing people in this very open process. That said, read along and enjoy the output while chipping in your (unwanted) two cents as well.

Follow me on Twitter (below) for constant updates or subscribe (below) to get news directly to your email from the blog. If you have any questions or topic request(s), email them to us and we’ll see to it that it gets discussed!

Tis, the NBA Season: My (Stupid) Predictions

I like, not love, the National Basketball Association. So, when they say “this may be one of the greatest seasons we’ve seen in awhile.” I do not believe them, though I am involved in fantasy basketball and I will watch as much of the... Continue →
